He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Ekberg and Merle Ekberg. He is survived by: his significant other Dixie Lee Upchurch; and his children, Gerald Ekberg (Nikki) of Burlington, CO, Penny Fryback of Colby, Janet Ekberg (Jim Hinton) of Colby, Scott Ekberg (Karen) of Great Bend, KS and Alicia Moore (Eric) of Colby. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Baalmann Mortuary - Colby (190 S Franklin Ave, Colby, KS 67701). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 7th 2025 at the Beulah Cemetery (750 S Country Club Dr, Colby, KS 67701).
