It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ross Herman Rodenbeck of Colby, Kansas, who passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Herman Rodenbeck and Mary Rodenbeck (Kersenbrock); and his sisters, Marie Shreve and Ruth Weed. He is survived by : his wife Anna Dean of Colby; his son Rod Rodenbeck (Shelly); his grandson Russell of Colby; his son Robert Rodenbeck (Marsha) of Las Vegas, NV; his granddaughters, Kelli Carstensen (Jeff) of Davenport, IA, Jessica Roby (Preston) of Emporia, KS and Vanessa Stephens (Eric) of Syracuse, UT; his daughter Ronda Bachman (Rich) of Colby, KS; his grandsons, John Brottem (Taylor) of Beaumont, TX and Jesse Brottem (Kristin) of Colby; and his great grandchildren, James, Loreali, Dean, Samuel Roby, Alexis, Royce Stephens, Jackson and Karsen Brottem. He is also survived by extended family members and many, many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Prairie Museum of Art and History or Pioneer Memorial Library and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.

“We only saw Ross and Annadean once or twice a year, what an Amazing Pair they were. We always felt like they were welcoming me and Laura home when we would meet them in Goodland. Seems like everyone knew Ross or knew of him and how his friendships spanned all age groups. His kindness and thoughtful nature came so naturally to him.
