He was predeceased by : his parents, Mark Choate and Esther Choate (Banks); and his siblings, Virgil Choate, Ron Choate, William "Bill" Choate, Junior Choate, Donnie Choate and Dorothy Choate.

He is survived by : his former life partner Carol Hylton (Stone); his children, Traci Beckett (Choate) and Timothy Choate (Cinta); his sisters, Mary Jones, Juanita Ogleds and Loretta Albrecht; his grandchildren, Shandra Beckett and Zachary Beckett; and his great grandchildren, Elijah Daniels, Holden Howland and Kiersten Beckett.
