It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Conrad Hertlein (Council Grove, Kansas), who passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though John Conrad may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Hertlein and Lucy Hertlein (Greer). He is survived by: his cousin Eleanor Hertlein Philips Muller; his wife Ruby Roy; his sons, Jim and Tim Hertlein of Emporia; and his grandsons, Tyler and Eric Hertlein of Overland Park. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 16th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sawyer Chapel (137 N Union St, Council Grove, KS 66846). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to White City United Methodist Church or Council Grove United Methodist Church.
