He is survived by: his wife Cathy (Cathy); his children, James Oliver Jr. (Kimberly), Joe Oliver (Michelle), Jane Wohletz (Jerry) and John Oliver (Leigh); his sisters, Martha Griffin and Mary "Judy" Smith; and his sister-in-law Mary Oliver. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
