She was predeceased by : her parents, Moises Torres (Colon) and Cruz Ana Acevedo (Loperena); her former life partner Andrew Simmons; her husband George Waters; her son Michael Simmons; and her sister Juana Chapple.

She is survived by : her sons, Charles Simmons, Lester Simmons (Shirley) and Patrick Simmons (Kimberly). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
