It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Maxine (Nelson) Poppen (Downs, Kansas), who passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 109, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Nelson and Bessie Nelson; her husband Alfred Poppen; and her siblings, Willard Nelson, Bernice Gartin, Doris McWhorter and Erma Nelson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Chartier (Wilbur) of Clyde and Wanda Hancock (Maurice) of Downs, Kansas; her granddaughter Erica Thompson (Jeremy) of Katy, Texas; and her great grandchildren, Gabriel and Lindy Thompson of Katy.
Memorials may be made to Downs United Methodist Church or Downs Senior Center.
