He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudy Schmalstieg and Minnie Louise Schmalstieg; his son Russell Schmalstieg (Michelle Hobbs); and his grandchildren, Blake Schmalstieg "Hobbs" and Kaitlyn Schmalstieg.
He is survived by: his children, Randy Schmalstieg (Jo), Robby Schmalstieg and Stephanie Herken (Scott); his grandchildren, Derrick Winkler, Jessica Runge-Schmalstieg (Ray), Daniel Winkler, William Schmalstieg, Dillon Herken, Taylor Herken and Colton Mullins; his great grandchildren, Laekynn, Everlee, Josephine Winkler, Jackson, Jace, Wyatt Winkler, Jason, Raven, Veronica Runge and Jasper Herken; and his brother David Schmalstieg (Gloria). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Easton Lions Club or the Easton United Methodist Church.
