He was predeceased by: his parents, Constantine Starkel and Lena Starkel (Buehler); and his siblings, Homer Starkel, Mildred George, Leslie Starkel and Gene Starkel.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ella Hobson; his children, Vicki Adams and Gary Starkel (Karma); and his grandchildren, Michael Roberts (Chasity), Angela Starkel and Kyle Starkel. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Kansas Wildlife and Parks to support fishing-related initiatives.
