He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carl Smith and Bertha Lillian Hodson Smith; his grandchildren, Ambur Swisher, Matthew Swisher and Michael Winkler; and his siblings, Glynne, Grant Smith and LuHelen Zink.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen "Kay" Smith; his daughters, Alison Swisher, Jerilyn McCann, Tamara Debey (Jeff) and Yvonda Freeman (Randy); and his grandchildren, Destiny Herbst (Bryan), Trent Swisher, Scott, Wesley DeWitt, Kaydee Sheets, Jennifer Acker and Haley Ruble (Cody). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery E. (915 E 8th St, Ellsworth, KS 67439). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery (915 E 8th St, Ellsworth, KS 67439).
