He is survived by: his wife Mary Viel; his children, Lukas J. A. Viel and Ashlyn M. E. Viel; his grandson Kolton M. Viel of Hutchinson; his stepson Trenton Rhodes (Summer); his stepgrandsons, Nova (Dallas) of Fort Scott, KS. and Easton Rhodes of Fort Scott, KS.; his siblings, Denise Davis (Gary) of Grants Pass, OR. and Paul J. Vielle; and his cousin George Dewhurst (Marilyn) of Florence, OR.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
