He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Slater and Daisy Z. Slater (Stapp); his wife Lorna L'Deana DeVilbiss; and his siblings, Clara Miller, Louise Pearson, Maxine Tindle, Irene Astley, Jimmy Earl and Gary Slater.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Brillhart (Mark) of Fort Scott, Kansas and Daren Slater (Tiffany) of Dacoma, Oklahoma; his grandsons, Clay Brillhart of Fort Scott, Kaden Slater of Tulsa and Kolby Slater (Kaytin) of American Fork, Utah; his great grandchild Emmett Slater; his stepgranddaughters, Jenny Brillhart (Joseph) of Santa Rosa, Florida, Megan Brillhart (Vander) of Fort Scott, Brianne Brillhart (Cooper) and Cameron Brillhart; and his brother Lewis Slater (Shirley) of Independence. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the FSCC Livestock Judging Team Boosters or the Northwest Technology Center Foundation – Slater Family Scholarship.
