He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Gerald Minor and Ida Myrtle Thornton (Crane); his wife Dorothy N. Slater; his children, Carl Dean Thornton, Connie Lyn Menefee (Earl), Patricia Ann Hogan (Cliff) and Gary Dean Thornton (Missy); his friends, Brian Rothgeb and Mike Jeffers; and his close friend Frances Rhoads.

“So sorry about Carl's passing. I first met Carl in the mid 80's as I also worked for the Postal Service. Carl had a love for music and people, and music is how Carl and I got to know each other after my wife and I moved to Neodesha from Wichita a little over 5 years ago. My heartfelt condolences to family and friends of Carl.”
