It is with sadness that the passing of Barbara Lay (Gardner, Kansas) is shared. Barbara passed away on August 22, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Barbara will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Barbara by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Barbara is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Barbara’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ike Ormsby and Edna Ormsby (Tremayne); her brother Mason; her sister-in-law Diana Ormsby; and her nieces and nephews, Lizabeth Lay and Todd Lay.
She is survived by: her son Doug Lay of Overland Park; and her nieces, Kim Ormsby Daffin of Houston Texas and Heather Ormsby Mellor (Matthew) of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by four grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in the memory of her brother and daughter to The Brain Injury Association of Kansas or in the memory of her son to the Kansas City Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program.
