She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvin Schurr and Josephine Schurr (Shiroky); her former husband Herbert J. "Junior" Black; her husband Elmer Dortland; her son Steve Black; her brother Richard Schurr; and her granddaughter Valerie Boomhower.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Jacobs (Steve) of Gorham, Roger Black (Trudy) of Baton Rouge, Beverly Driscoll of Hoisington, JoAnn Kilian (Stuart) and Darrell Dortland (Kayla) of Gorham, Kansas; her siblings, George Schurr (Pat), Donna Frederick of Salina and Eva Jean Hackerott of Topeka, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Brenda Slattery, Kevin Jacobs, Stacey McKenna, Kyle Jacobs, Jaime Liudahl, Sarah Rosa, Ben Black, Chris, David Driscoll, Cameron Kilian, Joseph, Tiffany and Camille Dortland. She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (135 3rd St, Gorham, KS 67640). A rosary will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Gorham, Kansas.
