He was predeceased by: his father Harlan Dewald; his wife Enid June "E. J." Schlegel; his daughter Justina Elizabeth DeWald; his mother Delores DeWald-Hanhardt (Robert); and his nephew Daniel Huthoefer.
He is survived by: his children, Jessica Riebel (Chase) and Jonathan DeWald (Julie Selbe); his grandchildren, Jacob, Abigial, Alexandria, Anastasia, Ashley, Flint, Tinesha, Reuben, Heaven, Christian, Mason and Sebastian; his sister Janice Huthoefer (Don); his brother-in-law Gary Wilson; and his aunt Shirley Maier. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home (1425 S Patton Rd, Great Bend, KS 67530). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Lutheran Church (304 Columbia St, La Crosse, KS 67548).
