He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Bird and Ruth Bird (Buckles); and his siblings, Daniel Keith Bird, Homer Lynn Bird, Max Bird, Jean Kay McClelland and Patricia Kathleen Metcalfe.
He is survived by: his wife Ingrid Neumann of Hamburg; his children, Thomas Bird (Gah) of Larkspur, Stefan Bird (Valerie) of Portland, Oregon and Carolyn Bird of Morgan Hill, California; his grandchildren, Sam Bird, Zach Bird (Kelsey), Nicholas Bird and Anna Bird; and his brother-in-law Jerre McClelland of Sacramento, Calif.. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
