Raymond Dale Ledford Obituary
Raymond Dale (Myers) Ledford of Harveyville, KS passed always on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in the home he shared with Wendy, his great-granddaughter and great-great grandson, Elliott. Raymond was 99 years old.
Raymond was born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1925 to Geneva Myers. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Eliza Frances (Hutchins) Myers and Francis "Frank" Perry Myers.
He proudly served in the infantry for the United States Army in World War II and in Korea. He later earned his living as he drove a Semi hauling goods across the United States and even into Mexico. He earned the nickname "BackRoads" and was often traveling a little on the heavier side. He later worked for Shawnee County, repairing and paving roads and had odd jobs such as roofing and working for a moving company.
In his later years, Ray enjoyed tinkering around at the "Pea Patch" with his good friend, Otis May, hanging out with the guys at Bob Kraus' Garage on Main Street, visiting the Auburn Apple Market and enjoying the simple life he had in good old "Povertyville". Raymond enjoyed telling jokes and always had a smile on his face. He would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.
Raymond raised his great-granddaughter, Wendy who was a major part of his life for the past 19 years. Elliott, his great-great grandson was also very special to Ray and their bond was like no other. Wendy & Elliott will forever carry the memories and love that they shared as a family.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia. He is survived by his son, Charles (Leslie) Jessepe, daughter Cheryl and His grandchildren; Billy (Jen) Rodgers, Joe Rodgers, Wayne Ledford, Shelli Reams & Lexi Ledford and their families.
Per Raymond's request, he was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Keene Cemetery.
