David Bongartz Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Bongartz in Hays, Kansas, who passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Bongartz and Cecelia Bongartz (Jacobs); and his brothers, James Bongartz, Raymond Bongartz and Gary Bongartz.
He is survived by: his sisters, Janette Shantz of Wichita, Kansas, Joanne Mays of Tucumcari, Norma Plymell (Larry) of Hays, Kansas, Lynda Wallace of Hays, Kansas, Susan Ketchum of Moore, Oklahoma and Kandice Michel (Steve) of Garden City, Kansas. He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trego County Senior Center and sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th Street, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
