He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Whitman and Lenora Whitman (McWade); his siblings, Kenneth "Pete" Whitman and Mary Jane Burton; and his siblings-in-law, Howard Burton, Marilee and Ruth Whitman.

He is survived by : his wife Kathy Gearhart; his sons, Mark Whitman (Joyce) of Parker, CO and Michael Whitman (Eurie) of Aurora, CO; his grandchildren, Karl, Liam, Romaro, Sophie and Liliana Whitman; his stepdaughters, Alisha Parkhurst (Kent) of Blackhawk, CO and Christine Stewart of Aurora, CO; his brothers, Robert Whitman (Carol) of Marysville, OH and Charles Whitman of Hesperia, MI; and his half-brothers, Steve and John Whitman of Columbus, OH..

Memorials are suggested to HaysMed Hospice, BPOE Elks Lodge #2086 Glenwood Springs, Colorado or to the Hays VFW Post #9076.
