He was predeceased by: his parents, Isidor Schumacher and Cecilia Schumacher (Dinges); his wife Karen J. Kryzer; his grandson Collin Rous; and his brothers, Marvin, Ralph, Eddie, Cletus, Francis and Melvin.
He is survived by: his children, Tanya Staats (Brian) of Great Bend, Todd Schumacher (Melissa) of Topeka and Ty Schumacher of Hays; his sisters, Evelyn Dreher (Elmer) of Hays, Dolores VonFeldt (Gary) of Hays and Carol Staab of Thornton; and his grandchildren, Cody Schumacher (Taryn), Courtney Stapleton (Anthony), Connor Schumacher (Madi), Charell Owings (Jeremy), Cierra Einsel (Darin), Anna Rous and Chanelle Staats. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home (1906 Pine St, Hays, KS 67601). A vigil service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A rosary was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 6:45 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (215 W 13th St, Hays, KS 67601). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 6:30 PM.
