He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Hess and Katherine Hess (Setter); his brothers, George, Francis and Everett; and his siblings-in-law, Jody Hess and Richard Dolin.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Jo Philpott of Benedict's Church; his children, Elaine Marie Nietling (Warren) and Vincent Joseph (Pat); his grandchildren, David Nietling, Adam Nietling, Matthew Hess (Sarah), Julie Hess, Paul Hess (Nekesa), Karen Hess Ringstad (Leif), Thomas Hess, Amy Hess Battaglia (David), Mary Hess, Angela Hess and Peter Hess; his great grandchildren, Malcolm Hess, Charlotte Hess and Hudsen Ringstad; and his sisters-in-law, Rebecca Dolin, Loretta Katigan, Ann Hess and Shirley Hess. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at 6:00 PM and at 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (215 W 13th St, Hays, KS 67601). A vigil service will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home (1906 Pine St, Hays, KS 67601).
Memorials are suggested to TMP Endowment, Comeau Catholic Campus Center, or to St. John's Chapel at Via Christi Village.
