He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Koerner and Bertha Koerner (Miller); and his brothers, Joe, Tom and Skip Koerner.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Oplinger of Hays; his sons, Paul Koerner (Kim) of Hutchinson, Mitch Koerner (Sheena) of Parker, CO and Mike Koerner (Mindy) of Parker, CO; his grandchildren, Mikayla, Ashton, Sierra, Mariah, Nora and Thomas Koerner; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Koerner of Hays and Maria Koerner of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home (1906 Pine St, Hays, KS 67601). A vigil service will be held on Monday, November 17th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A rosary will be held on Monday, November 17th 2025 at 6:45 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (1805 Vine St, Hays, KS 67601). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at 6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Unify, Beautify, Glorify Campaign, to HaysMed Hospice, or for masses.
