The passing of John E. Davis of Holton, Kansas leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on November 16, 2025 at the age of 88. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank L. Davis and Josephine M. Davis (McColgin); his son Felix Berton Shaw; and his siblings, Emily Jane Stoll, Marianne McClintock and James Davis.
He is survived by: his daughters, Roxanna Shaw of Holton, KS and Sherrie Shaw of Holton, KS; his sister Harriet Patton of Colorado Springs, CO; and his grandchildren, Ginger Binkley (Scott), Robert Shaw (Sherrie) and Nicole Kinsley (Ryan). He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The lying in state was held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitation was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mercer Funeral Home (1101 W 4th St, Holton, KS 66436). The military honors was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Holton Cemetery (11999 Highway K16, Holton, KS 66436).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Legion Post 44 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
