It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Irene Peter (Hoxie, Kansas), who passed away on April 24, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joyce Irene Peter to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Floyd Karnes and Ida Nell Karnes (Schropp); her husbands, Verl Mowry and Gary Peter; her brother Vic Karnes; her stepson Vern Mowry; and her stepgrandson Vess Mowry.

She is survived by : her children, Douglas Babcock (Dalene) of Hoxie, Kansas, Susan Ellmore (John) of Garden City and Kristine Babcock of Hoxie, Kansas; her stepchildren, Tom Peter, Tony Peter and Jeni Duerksen; her sister Judith Weeks of Hoxie, Kansas; and her sister-in-law Ardith Karnes of Hoxie, Kansas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home (1024 Sheridan Ave, Hoxie, KS 67740). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at the Selden Cemetery.
