He was predeceased by: his parents, William Atkinson and Luella Atkinson (Pauls); his wife Cheryl Atkinson; and his grandson Luke Atkinson. He is survived by: his son Neil Atkinson of Hutchinson; his siblings, Bob Atkinson of Spokane, WA, LuAnn Wicks (Darren) of Hutchinson and Bill Atkinson (Marilyn) of Hutchinson; his close friend Stacy Taylor; and his grandchildren, Jacey Trower, Morgan Atkinson, Kaylynn Atkinson, Emma Atkinson, Easton Atkinson and Casen Atkinson. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Elliott Mortuary & Crematory (1219 N Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501).
