Rusty Hilst Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rusty Hilst of Hutchinson, Kansas, born in Russell, Kansas, who passed away on June 17, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hilst and Thelma Hilst (Borger); his sister Vivian Donnelley; and also Max Hamilton. He is survived by: his siblings, Sandra Linley, Sheila Soleimani, Rhonda Kimball, Rick Hilst, Pam Burzinski and Kent Hilst. He is also survived by 87 family members, 22 nieces and nephews, and 36 grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (407 E 12th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67501). Again it was fate, this time in the form of COVID, that emptied the halls of Hutch High and precipitated his retirement.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central Links Golf or HHS Alumni Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
