We announce the death of Dorothy Mae Springer (Independence, Kansas), who passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 96. She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom Hewitt and Marie Hewitt; her daughter-in-law Mary Hines; her great grandchild Nathan Gilmore; her great great grandchild Anthony Gaona; and her brothers, Jack Hewitt, Don Hewitt and Delbert Hewitt.

She is survived by: her friends, Ruth and Frank Harris; her husband Lee Springer; her children, Richard Hines of Erie, Kansas, JoAnn Voth (Lee) of Lewisville, Dale Springer (Judy) of Independence and Chuck Springer (Debbie) of Independence, Kansas.; her grandchildren, Tracy Gilmore (Wayne) of Parsons, Trisha Ahring (Trevor) of Garden City, Taryn Pierce (Chance) of Shawnee, Kansas., Michael Springer (Christy) of Fredonia, Kelly Birk (Scott) of Neodesha, Shelly Kiblinger (Bob) of Cherryvale, Jackie Chandler (Eric) of Independence, Chris Voth (Christine) of Seymour and Jennifer West (Jason) of Lewisville, Texas.; and her sister Phyllis Baker of Pleasant Hill, California. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Webb Rodrick Chapel (306 W Main St, Independence, KS 67301). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM at the Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
