He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lawrence Caston and Catherine Cates Caston; his sister Etta Allen Enders (Jim); his grandparents, Judge R. W. Cates and Edith Allen Cates; and his great-grandparents, Edward Payson Allen, Mary Van Sant Allen of Independence, Kansas. and E. P. Allen.
He is survived by: his wife Patti McCormick of Lawrence; his daughter Aubree Ridley (Independence); his son-in-law Cole Ridley; his grandchildren, Hazel and Huck of Overland Park; his nephews, Mike Enders (Johnnie) and Todd Enders (Demetria) of Wichita; his great-nephews, Jared Enders (Jay), Todd Enders II and Dillon Enders; his great-niece Jacklyn Maisch; and his close friend Hoite.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (201 S 5th St, Independence, KS 67301). A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
The American Film Institute presented Hoite with a Certificate of Recognition, acknowledging his vital contributions to advancing the art and preserving the heritage of American film and television, personally presented by Charlton Heston.
