With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Tholen of Iola, Kansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 16, 2025 at the age of 74. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Tholen to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Tholen and Alice Tholen (Bahr); and his brother Richard Tholen (John Paul Tholen). He is survived by: his wife Vickie Tholen (Roberts); his daughters, Christine (Charles Wanker) of Iola, Tamara (Nick Welch) of Manhattan, Lisa Dunne of Olathe and Kimberly (Nik Bohac) of San Francisco, California; his grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Grace, Travis, Madeleine, Joshua, Lee, Makayla and Eli; and his siblings, Carol Bruner (Mike), Gary Tholen (Karen), Paula Delury and Robert Tholen (Julie).
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the The Venue (1883 US-54, Iola, KS 66749). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 22nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, August 22nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Honor Flight of LeRoy or Pregnancy and Family Jail Ministries and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
