He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh K. Shirley and Thelma M. Shirley (Schall); his wife Roberta; his son Michael Shirley (Scott); and his son-in-law Benny Gudmens.
He is survived by: his children, Tim Shirley of Baldwin, KS, Susan Massey (Jon Sorenson) of Mount Vernon, IL and Sara Moxley of Leavenworth, KS; his grandchildren, Kayla Gorman (Brendan), Joshua Massey (Rachel), Morgan Moxley (Jackson Luff), Lydia Shirley (Pat Cullen) and Clarissa Shirley; and his great grandchildren, Josie Cowan, Augustus Massey, Maximus Massey and Winnie Gorman. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Johns Catholic Church (310 S Jefferson Ave, Iola, KS 66749). The inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Highland Cemetery (1800 N Cottonwood St, Iola, KS 66749).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Iola Food Pantry or Bowlus Fine Arts Center, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
