We bid farewell to Dean Joe Vacura of Jennings, Kansas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 18, 2025 at the age of 92. Dean touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Vacura and Clara Vacura (Mazanek); and his sister Cleta Herren (Vacura). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Shimmick of Jennings; his sons, Bill (Amy) of Norton, Brad (Jody) of Point and Blake (Crystal) of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Amanda of Newport, Matthew of Norton, Brandon of Liberal, Jake, Jaden, Jenae of Frederick, Ashley and Zach of Omaha, Nebraska; and his great grandchildren, Brionna, Dyllun, Lynzie and Kaitlyn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gobber Funeral Home (121 N Penn Ave, Oberlin, KS 67749). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Jennings United Methodist Church (202 S Topeka Ave, Jennings, KS 67643).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jennings United Methodist Church or Decatur Health.
