He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Bennett and Mary Bennett (Gardner); his wife Norma J. Lovett; his daughter Virginia Reed; and his siblings, Joe Bennett, Colleen Childers and Mary Kathleen.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon Gordan, Theresa Gutierrez and Geraldine Lucke. He is also survived by his six granddaughters, three grandsons, sixteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Countryside Funeral Home - Johnson Chapel (101 N Highland Ave, Chanute, KS 66720). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Mount Hope Cemetery (1282 Hawaii Rd, Humboldt, KS 66748).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Leon's memory.
