Marian will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Marian by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Marian is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Marian’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her children, Gary Duane Smith, Wanda Gail Greer and Tonya Marie Horton; and her grandson Jeremy Smith. She is survived by: her son Wendell Dean Smith; and her siblings, Glenn Patterson and Carmen Carpenter. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Countryside Funeral Home - Johnson Chapel (101 N Highland Ave, Chanute, KS 66720). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
