It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mike D. Smith of Johnson, Kansas, who passed away on December 24, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by : his father Mahlon D. Smith; his sister Kathy Tomlin (Smith); his brother-in-law Harold Tomlin; his parents-in-law, Bernard Kilgore and Kilgore; and his sister-in-law Pat Brickman (Kilgore).
He is survived by : his mother Ann Catherine Smith (Grilliot); his wife Lois Jean Smith (Kilgore) of Mary's Church; his children, Shaun Troutman, Brandon Smith and Leslie Harbour (Doug); his grandchildren, Landin Troutman, Ellison Troutman, Addison Harbour and Keaton Harbour; his pets, Orph, Simon, Tom and Tux; his siblings, Carol McEndree (Ken), John Smith (Carolyn), Richard Smith (Zita), Barbara Martin (Miles), Mark Smith (Lisa), Margaret Johnson (David), Jeff Smith (Tamara), Susan McKinney (Brad), Janelle Nickell (Lewis), Mary Beauchamp, Nancy York, Karen Smith, Joanna Schupbach (Pat) and Amy Lemons (Jay); and his sister-in-law Darlene Davis (Ronnie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Over the years, Mike flew countless people to medical appointments in his planes—so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AirCare, a non-profit organization using privately piloted planes to ferry patients to faraway medical appointments.
