We announce the death of Mitchell R. Garrett of Junction City, Kansas, who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 71. Mitchell will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Garrett and Edna Louise Garrett; his wife Beverly J. Garrett; and his siblings, Sandford Garrett, Sue Purifoy and Patricia Williams.
He is survived by: his sisters, Gwendolyn S. Bullard and LaFarris L. Risby; his nieces and nephews, Bernadette, Dionne, Tyronica, Darrion, Tory and Tyrone Jr.; his great-nieces and great-nephews, DJ, Braylon, Isaiah, LaToya, Mesha and Amori; his close friends, Marcus Craig, Phil Washington and Norman Carlisle; Tavon, Darius, Zavion and Alani. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
