He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Joan Vandergriff and Robert Vandergriff; and his stepgrandmother Venus Vandergriff. He is survived by: his parents, Susan Smith-Vandergriff and David Vandergriff; his grandchildren, Robert T. Smith, Nana and Florence Biesemeyer; his nephew Matthew Thomas Smith-Vandergriff; his niece June Ross; his siblings, James, Mark Smith-Vandergriff (Chelle) and Rebecca Ross (Ben); his close friend Jon Whistance (Kathleen); his nieces and nephews, William, Theodore Smith-Vandergriff, Joseph, Andrew Ross, Ava, Olivia, Isabella and Eleanor Smith-Vandergriff; and his goddaughters, Lily, Madison, Charlotte and Lucy Whistance.
