He was predeceased by: his parents, William Collins and Bridget Collins (Schwed); his daughters, Mary Catherine Collins and Elaine Anne Collins; and his siblings, Harry Collins, Viola Stokes, Eileen Talkin, Clarence B. Collins "Bernie", Leo Collins, Mary Elizabeth Blankenship "Betty" and William Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Bernice Plese; his children, Kathleen VandenBoom (Eugene H.) of Kansas City, MO and Fredrick (Elizabeth) of Olathe, KS; and his grandchildren, Patrick Collins, Maureen Seufert (Matt), Bridget Collins, Theresa Helms (Jesse) and Joseph VandenBoom. He is also survived by his seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Gene can be made to St. Mary's-St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas or Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home in Belton, Missouri.
