Adria Lee (Tauer) McKay Obituary
Adria Lee (Tauer) McKay was born on January 12, 1951, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Leroy and Audrey Tauer.
She attended Chisholm Trail Elementary School and graduated from Wichita Heights High School in December 1968. Adria went on to further her education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Friends University in 1998.
She began her working life at Hy's Carryout and Don Hattan Chevrolet before starting her long and dedicated career at Cessna Aircraft Company in September 1969, where she remained until her retirement in September 2009. She volunteered at StepStone from 2015 to 2023.
On February 1, 1969, Adria married Dennis Dale McKay in Mullinville, Kansas. Together they built a loving family, welcoming two children, Steven Dale McKay and Jennifer Lee McKay. Jennifer married Jason Jahnke in 1998, and Steve married Gwen Swant in 1999. Adria and Dennis were blessed with four grandchildren: Paiten Dawn Jahnke (2001), Emily Adria McKay (2004), Ariella Graicen Jahnke (2004), and Ethan Owen McKay (2009).
Adria found great joy in life's simple pleasures, including reading, baking, sewing, shopping, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also cherished attending Cessna ladies' luncheons and maintaining the friendships she built throughout her career.
Adria's life reflected her deep commitment to her family, her pursuit of education, and her strong work ethic. She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and many accomplishments that will be remembered by all who knew her.
