He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Bittel and Marie Bittel (Schmidt); his wife Dorothy M. Depperschmidt of Joseph's Catholic Church; and his siblings, Alvin Bittel, Lavern Bittel, LeRoy Bittel, Donald Bittel, Larry Bittel, Charlotte Broyles and Georgine Schurz.
He is survived by: his sons, Dennis Bittel (Christie) and Gerald Bittel (Linda); his grandchildren, Jessica Dellett (Jason), Jennifer Stonequist (Jeread), Amy Love (Damian) and Ryan Urban (Stephanie); his siblings, Carroll Bittel and Kathryn Scott; and his sisters-in-law, Nadine Bittel and Angela Archer. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
