He was predeceased by: his parents, Rafael Oropeza Esparza and Julia Hernandez Lira; his wife Yolinda "Yoli" Arias; his son Rafael Oropeza Jr.; and his siblings, Antonio Oropeza, Ramon Oropeza, Margarito Oropeza, Jesus Oropeza, Virginia Oropeza and Elisa Oropeza.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Arias (Claudia), Andrea Arias, Cecelia Oropeza (Robert), Joaquin Ortega and Benjamin Ortega; and his siblings, Arjelia Oropeza and Jose Luis Oropeza. He is also survived by children in California; 8 grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Garnand Funeral Homes - Lakin (508 N Main St, Lakin, KS 67860). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church- Lakin (600 Soderberg St, Lakin, KS 67860). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
