He is survived by: his wife Hyon Hawley; his son Elton Hawley of Orlando, Florida; his stepson Francis McKibben; and his sisters, Mae Moore of Cary and JoAnne Riggs of Wilton, Maine. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
