He is survived by: his mother Katherine Butler (Kanute) of St. Paul, Kan.; his wife Denise De Lange; his children, Christopher Butler of Lansing, Diane Butler of Lansing and Mary Katherine Owens of Overland Park, Kan.; and his siblings, Anita Kay, Colleen Lindstrom (Jon), Joe Butler (Judy), Beverly Schaich (Steve), Ruth Hatley (Peter) and Ed Butler (Nancy).
