He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Mark Franz; his stepmother Myrtle E. Franz of Larned, KS; his mother Elsie Viola Jones Hoover of Bertrand, NE; his sister Delores Franz of Burdett, KS; his stepsister Ruth Felder of Rush City, KS; his sister-in-law Arlene Mann Yeager of Larned, KS; and his former wife Betty Lucille Deering Franz of Memphis, TN.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Franz; his daughter Julene Franz Reed; his son-in-law Ron Reed of Memphis, TN; his son Mark LaVern Franz; his daughter-in-law Alla Chavdarova; his grandchild Sasha of Austin, TX; his daughter Lori Jean Franz; his son-in-law John Coll of Kempner, TX; his stepchildren, Kathy Johnson, Cynthia Short and James Arledge; and his granddaughters, Angela Lynné Reed Tull (Benjamin Tull) and Amanda Nicole Reed Ferguson (Marvin Ferguson).
