Jon Wiese wrote a sympathy message

“I knew Alfred for over 50 years. I worked with him at Farmland Industries ammonia plant until it closed in 2002. Alfred was one of the few people that was entirely dependable and learned a difficult job very well. I also know he worked many years as a carpenter for house builder John Ayler. He was liked and known as a true friend by me and most of his fellow employees. The only thing I can think of that truly scared him was any kind of snake. RIP Al. You are missed.”
