Betty touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for the moments shared and the memories created. Family, friends, and colleagues extend their love and support during this time. While Betty’s presence will be missed, the influence she had on others will remain. Those who knew her will carry forward memories that reflect her character and spirit.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Billie Gilbreth and Mildred Gilbreth (Almon); her brother Lee Gilbreth; and her husband Joseph L. Lewis, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Joseph Lewis, Jr. (Kim), Brian Scott Lewis (Cathi) and Lisa Gay O'Neill. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Warren-Mcelwain Mortuary (120 W 13th St, Lawrence, KS 66044).
The family suggests memorial contributions to The University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (KU ADRC) and may be sent in care of the mortuary. Please reference "Charles A. Garney Alzheimer's Opportunity Fund" in memo.
