He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Wingert and Elsie Wingert (Peterson); his son Gregory D. Wingert; and his brothers, Leo, Merle, Gene, Lloyd, Clarence, Jim and Alfred.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin M. Wingert (Dana) and Lori A. Wingert (Lawrence); his stepchildren, John Wade (Jolene) and Nadine Lavy (Patrick); his sister Katherine Koehler; and his grandchildren, Christie M. Wingert-Palmer, Jennifer Wingert-Branlund, Ryan E. Wingert, Lawrence and Kailey D. Luehrs. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home (601 Indiana St, Lawrence, KS 66044). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Worden Cornerstone Church (294 E 900 Rd, Baldwin City, KS 66006).
