It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darla Leann Hesse of Lawrence, Kansas, who passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 64, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Lee Ward and Doris "Darlene" Travis; her husband Jon Hesse of John's Episcopal Church; and her stepfather Vernon Herrman. She is survived by: her brothers, John Travis Ward and Christopher Ward (Stephanie); her siblings' children, David Ward (Amber) and Kimberly Nye (Paul Sr.); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Heidi Ward, Elaina Nye, Elijah Ward and Paul David Nye Jr.. She is also survived by her niece, nephew, and later her great-nieces and nephews.
