With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David A. Mitchell (Lawrence, Kansas), born in Tribune, Kansas, who passed away on December 11, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Arthur Mitchell and Edna Sophronia Mitchell (Colby); and his siblings, Joseph "Joe" Mitchell of Bernard James, Mitchell, William "Pug" Mitchell, Rosie Cross and Carol Fultz.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Mitchell of Lawrence, KS; his children, Cindy Newell (Tracy) of Joplin, MO, Master Sergeant Michael Mitchell (Martha) of Milo, MO and Jeffrey Mitchell (Alyson) of Lawrence, KS; his sisters, Lucille Bitner (Roger) of Marion, KS, Kathy Slover of Wichita, KS and Connie Hayes of Almo, TX; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Alexandria and Kara; and his great grandchildren, Lillian and Arlo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Warren-Mcelwain Mortuary (120 W 13th St, Lawrence, KS 66044). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
