He was predeceased by: his mother Gretchen Haehl; and his adoptive father Chez Haehl. He is survived by: his wife Anne; his brothers, Stan (Betsy) of Ohio and Greg of Lawrence; and his nephews, Owen of Athens, OH and Nick of Lawrence.

Memorial Donations in Earl's name may be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church and be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
